Two White House officials who gave out information to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes in regards to the Obama administration and their gathered intelligence on Donald Trump’s team have been ousted.
The first one is Ezra Cohen-Watnick, senior intelligence director at the National Security Council, while the second is Michael Ellis, a lawyer in the White House counsel office.
As per the Daily Caller, Nunes would not say who the sources of intel were and how this information reached him in the first place.
On Wednesday, Nunes disclosed certain specifications regarding the case and mentioned that one of his sources is, in fact, an intelligence community whistleblower.
Nunes also pointed out that all information was obtained legally, but feared this would reflect negatively on Trump.
The revelation that the White House was involved in providing the information to Nunes is likely to fuel criticism that he is working too closely with the Trump administration, even while he is overseeing an investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential campaign.
When Nunes visited the White House, he was welcomed by an eruption of criticism, with people asking him to give up his seat for good.
This was delicately handled since Nunes is also monitoring the Trump-Russia investigation closely.
Nunes’ spokesperson refused to comment anything on this namedropping revelation:
“As he’s stated many times, Chairman Nunes will not confirm or deny speculation about his source’s identity, and he will not respond to speculation from anonymous sources,” Nunes spokesman Jack Langer told The Daily Caller.
It is good to know that Ellis served as general counsel on Nunes’ Intelligence Committee not too long ago.
The liberals are going to have a blast with this one. Hey, who else thought that somehow they were involved in this mess? Yup, me too!
