Arizona State Senator John McCain has been one of the most vocal, scratch that, THE MOST outspoken and vocal opponent of President Trump from the Republican party, but it seems that he has become so immersed in attacking the President that he has completely forgotten he is not attacking just anybody, but the President of the United States, and his attacks have been recently spinning out of control.
Arizona Senator John McCain claimed there was no place for comparison between President Trump and former President Ronald Raegan.
As The Hill reported, during an interview with David Axelrod for his CNN podcast “The Axe-Files,” that was shown on the network late on Saturday, the former Obama aide inquired whether Republicans from Arizona saw President Trump as a “Reagan-like figure.”
“No I don’t,” responded briefly McCain.
“And I think it’s pretty clear that there’s a difference between, well, aren’t we killers and the guy that stood there and said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, take down this wall,'” he added, referring to Reagan’s 1987 address at the Berlin Wall.
John McCain also remembered Trump’s interview from February in which he appeared to be equating President Vladimir Putin’s strategy to that of the United States.
“There are a lot of killers. You think our country’s so innocent?” he then answered
“He spoke out for the captive nations, he spoke out for the people who were behind the Iron Curtain,” said Senator McCain of Reagan. “And after the Iron Curtain fell, there were thousands who said ‘I heard Ronald Reagan, I listened to the voice of America, I listened to Radio Free Europe — he gave us hope.”
“That’s a pretty big difference.”
The son of Ronald Reagan, Michael Reagan, has commented that he thinks his father would not like President Trump.
